Each item is a question a developer often asks. Answer it in the steps and the question does not need to be asked.

Start where a stranger can reachName the page, screen or command, and the account type if it matters.

Why these checks

Steps to reproduce are the part of a bug report a developer reads first. If the steps work, the problem is real and the fix can start. If they do not, the ticket goes back to the reporter with a question and the wait begins. Each item in the checklist answers a question that comes up often.

A tick is your own judgement, not a score. The tool does not read your steps, so a full set of ticks only means you looked at each point.
